Welcome to Tutor Time!

Everyone wants the very best for their child.  Tutor Time gives them that!  Tutor Time is group tutoring in a home setting in the areas of reading and grammar. Tutor Time is an incredible opportunity for children to learn what they need to know to reach their fullest academic capacity.

Tutor Time uses the Marva Collins curriculum for reading and the Shurley English curriculum for grammar.  The Marva Collins curriculum encourages pre-schoolers to read in four months and encourages kindergartners to read at the 3rd grade reading level by the end of the school year.

The Shurley English curriculum teaches children grammar through songs and rhymes.  It helps the rules of our English grammar to stay in our childrens' heads for their present and future eduction.

Each tutoring session is 90 minutes.  That may sound like a long time for tutoring but childrens minds are like sponges, the more information that they are given, the more their brain soaks up.  It will help students reach their ultimate academic potential, and succeed in achieving their goals.

Tutor Time begins August 16, 2012.  Classes wil be Monday - Friday, every day that day the Columbia Public Schools are in session.  

Pre-school Students

Tutor Time will help preschool children by teaching them how to read.  It is a wonderful advantage for a child to start kindergarten with that skill!  I have never met an early reader who did not develop a love for reading!

Daily attendance is required with the Marva Collins curriculum because it is the only way to ensure excellent results.  Therefore, daily attendance is required with Tutor Time.  Continuing with Tutor Time for the school year is vitally important because it ensures that the child will retain the information that has been taught and will continue to learn even more.

Parents may choose tutoring sessions that are 9:30 a.m.- 11:00 a.m. or tutoring sessions that are 1:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.  Class sizes will max at 15 children.

elementary aged students

Tutor time helps elementary children by giving them a firm grasp on our, what can be confusing, English language.  It will impart knowledge and skills accurately and lead children to successful learning processes in theory and practice.  This will result in turning the children into proficient readers and excellent spellers.

The elementary session of Tutor Time is 7:00 a.m. - 8:30 a.m.  If needed, it is acceptable have your child leave early to get to school on time.  With so many after school activities and sports that children are involved with, Tutor Time feels this is the best time to have the session without interference from other activities.

You may now be thinking, "It's crazy to start it that early and have it last that long." You will not think that after seeing your child's incredible results.
